Balance Exercises Assist With Back Pain

Balance Exercises Can Help Back Pain

By Suzanne Stoke, Physical Therapist @ Exercise For Balance via www.exerciseforbalance.com Balance exercises are one way to help with the all too prevalent issue of back pain.  Please see  http://www.exerciseforbalance.com/buy-now  Back pain has been rated as one of the most common ailments among us. Statistics reveal that one in three individuals suffer with back pain or have dealt with the limitations in the quality of life associated with back pain. The Journal Of Physiotherapy explains that back pain in adolescents is almost as common as in adults. As a Physical Therapist, it is easy to see how back pain symptoms have risen among the younger generation with the prevalence of poor posture, slumped over a laptop or smart phone. The good news is that a balance exercise routine can build a strong  foundation  that will enhance both balance abilities and good posture that ultimately relieves back pain.

Balance Exercises For Back Pain

Balance exercises help establish a proper upright posture that both improves stability and diminishes back pain. Often times, poor balance and poor posture go hand in hand. With a forward bent posture, which begins during a slouched position sitting, the person's body tends to slump forward at the shoulders and rounds out at the low back area. The forward shoulder position brings the head forward, creating upper back and neck pain. The rounded position in the low back puts a strain on all the muscles, ligaments and disc material in the spine, which can also reproduce back pain. These forward bent positions also move the person's body weight forward, putting them at a risk for falling forward, especially with any challenges to their steadiness. The best means to improving balance and reducing back pain is to realign a person's posture with centering balance techniques. When a person is able to stand upright in good posture, the body weight can then be centered under the feet, enhancing stability. Additionally, with a nice, upright posture, all the muscles, ligaments and disc material is positioned in their perfect, functional alignment. These proper balance techniques are comprehensively explained in the Exercise For Balance DVD.
