Please see http://www.exerciseforbalance.com/buy-now  According to the National Stroke Association, Recovery after a stroke is often a lifelong process for everyone impacted by this event. Some people recover fully from a stroke while others face challenges for the rest of their lives. Just as every stroke is different, life after stroke is different for everyone. There is hope in that progress is possible at one month, one year or 20-plus years after a stroke. Recovery may depend on the location, type and severity of a stroke. Some of the most common issues that people deal with after a stroke include:
-difficulties with walking and balance
-Upper or Lower extremity weakness
-Difficulties with speech
-Difficulties with independence in functional activities

Senior Balance Exercises Following A Stroke

Recently medical researchers have investigated the effectiveness of senior balance exercises on the specific impairments for individuals who have had a stroke.  Lin P-Y, Yang Y-R, Cheng S-J, Wang R-Y. in their study, The Relation Between Ankle Impairments and Gait Velocity and Symmetry in People With Stroke, looked at walking abilities of people who had suffered from a stroke. The researchers wanted to identify the most important factor among the ankle impairments on gait velocity and symmetry in stroke patients. Their results showed that that the dorsiflexors strength was the most important factor for gait velocity and temporal symmetry. The researchers concluded that gait velocity and temporal asymmetry are mainly affected by the dorsiflexors strength, whereas dynamic spasticity of plantarflexors influenced the degree of spatial gait asymmetry in the patients who were able to walk outdoors. Treatment aiming to improve different aspects of gait performance should emphasize on different ankle impairments. Consequently, post stroke rehabilitation should emphasize both lower leg strengthening exercises and balance exercises. Now you can practice a  combination of specific senior balance exercises and appropriate lower extremity strengthening exercises in the comfort of your own home with the Exercise For Balance DVD.
