Balance Exercises And The Greatest Fall Of All Time

Balance Exercises And The Greatest Fall Of All Time

By Suzanne Stoke, Physical Therapist @ Exercise For Balance via www.exerciseforbalance.com/Valery Rozov celebrates landing after his BASE jump, standing on the snowy Everest montainside in his wingsuit
What kind of balance exercises and balance training do you think Russian Valery Rozov did to prepare for jumping off Mount Everest? Rozov completed the highest leap attempted by any individual when he base jumped off the North face of Mount Everest. Please see   http://www.exerciseforbalance.com/buy-now Rozov has a long career of falling. He has completed 9,500 skydives and 1,400 base jumps. His leap off Everest broke the world record for the highest jump on the planet. Rozov had to deal with not only the altitude but also the extremely thin air at 23,687 feet. Rozov prepared for his jump for four years. He designed a special winged suit and he trained to maximize his balance skills and control of his body weight and alignment to perfection. During his jump, he first flew vertical, dropping like a bullet for seven seconds traveling at 124 miles an hour. After his initial descent, he was able to level out his body position and fly for a full minute before releasing his parachute and landing on the Rongbuk glacier. In an interview, Rozov said, "you feel fear when you are thinking about whether to jump or not." It is good to know that we mere humans who just try to keep our feet on the ground and keep from falling have a thread in common with a successful, world record breaking base jumper.

Balance Exercises Help Battle The Fear Of Falling

Practicing balance exercises and balance training is one of the optimal ways to improve stability, reduce the risk of falling and overcome the fear of falling. By learning how to control your body alignment and body weight, you can maximize steadiness in challenging situations. Additionally, by using the sense of touch between your feet and the floor, you can enhance the sensory feedback to the balance center in the brain, which also strengths equilibrium. Most of us will not be intentionally falling any time soon like Valery Rozov, but you can advance your balance abilities by following along with the balance exercises and balance training tips presented in the Exercise For Balance DVD.
