For aging individuals falling is a common and debilitating experience that can be better avoided by performing senior balance exercises on a daily basis. Please see   http://www.exerciseforbalance.com/buy-nowUnfortunately, falling is frequent among older adults. Medical researchers have determined that one in three senior citizens fall every year. Additionally, healthcare professionals predict that three quarters of falls that cause hip fractures in elderly people take place in patients' own homes - most commonly in the bedroom (35 percent), living room (23 percent) or bathroom (12 percent), according to a medical study presented at the EFORT Congress in London by researchers from Bangkok's Mahidol University. The researcher's information identified several significant factors in causing fall-related hip fractures including:
 previous falls
cerebrovascular disease
poor vision and hearing
cognitive impairment
dependency on a caregiver
"Wearing unstable or unsupportive shoes is also a significant environmental factor in connection with falls that cause hip fractures in the elderly," reported the author of the study, Dr Panjapol Vitidvarodom. Thankfully, many medical researchers have also proven that practicing specific senior balance exercises every day can limit the potential of falling for those in the older generation.

Senior Balance Exercises For Better Balance

Since the incidence of falling in the home  is so great for older adults, learning how to perform proper senior balance exercises is imperative for safety and a continued quality of life. As an example, since many falls for aging individuals occur in the kitchen and bathroom, it is essential to learn how to turn in tight quarters without falling over. The first step is to concentrate ion the sense of touch between ones feet and the floor. By using the sensory feedback from your feet, you will make a strong connection between your feet and the balance center in your brain, which will greatly amplify your balance abilities. Next, you need to learn how to control shifting your body weight in those tight spots like the kitchen and bathroom. You can learn specific stability techniques and senior balance exercises that address these and other issues in the Exercise For Balance DVD developed by an experienced Physical Therapist.
