Senior Balance Exercises And Walking Fast

Senior Balance Exercises Help With Fast Walking

One great way to prepare for a walking program is to perform senior balance exercises  first to build a strong foundation of steadiness before hitting the pavement or trails. Please see http://www.exerciseforbalance.com/buy-now Medical researchers have determined that walking at a fast pace has many benefits, especially for older men. According to a finding published at the AARC- Prostate Cancer Foundation Conference, men who walked at a fast pace prior to a prostate cancer diagnosis had more regularly shaped blood vessels in their prostate tumors compared with men who walked slowly, providing a potential explanation for why exercise is linked to improved outcomes for men with prostate cancer. Additionally, men who engage in higher levels of physical activity have been reported to have a lower risk of prostate cancer recurrence and mortality compared with men who participate in little or no physical activity. The biological mechanisms underlying this association are not known. “Prior research has shown that men with prostate tumors containing more regularly shaped blood vessels have a more favorable prognosis compared with men with prostate tumors containing mostly irregularly shaped blood vessels,” said Erin Van Blarigan, professor at University of California, San Francisco. “Our findings suggest a possible mechanism by which exercise may improve outcomes in men with prostate cancer,” continued Van Blarigan. “Although data from randomized, controlled trials are needed before we can conclude that exercise causes a change in vessel regularity or clinical outcomes in men with prostate cancer, our study supports the growing evidence of the benefits of exercise, such as brisk walking, for men with prostate cancer.” For older men, therefore, establishing a sturdy foundation of good balance is essential before initiating a walking program, especially for those who wish to walk at a brisk pace.

Start With Senior Balance Exercises

The best place to start before setting out on a walking program is with senior balance exercises. By rehearsing static and dynamic equilibrium routines, you will be able to advance your balance skills to accommodate any uneven surfaces, cracks in the sidewalk or any type of obstacle that might throw off your balance and cause you to fall. One of the basic stability exercises to practice is standing on one foot and holding that position for twenty seconds. In that position, you will experience quite a bit of wobbling at your feet and ankles, which is just fine. Those motions at your feet and ankles allows your ankle muscles and balance reactions to get stronger and faster. another steadiness exercise involves standing on one foot and swing the other foot through as if you were about to take a step. That combination of static and dynamic balancing is essential before starting a walking program. You can learn these senior balance exercises and other routines to follow in the exercise for balance dvd, developed by an expert Physical Therapist.
