Balance Exercises Help You Get Started

Balance Exercises Help To Start An Exercise Program

By Suzanne Stoke, Physical Therapist @ Exercise For Balance via www.exerciseforbalance.com/
If you are feeling rather sluggish and you want to start an exercise program, how do you know the best ways to begin exercising? As a physical therapist, we develop and instruct exercise programs for our patient's each and every day.  Our primary recommendation is to start with a balance exercise program so that you have good stability when beginning to add in other exercises. The first balance skill that needs to be developed is to learn how to center your body weight and find your center balance point. When your body weight is anchored, you can then apply sensory feedback from your feet and ankles to help improve your stability. Additionally, you can add balance routines that change the width as well as type of surface you stand on to add a greater challenge to your balance reactions.    Please see http://www.exerciseforbalance.com/buy-now

How To Start An Exercise Program

Once you have practiced balance exercises and feel that your equilibrium is more stable, you can begin to add in other principles of beginning an exercise program.  When you start to exercise, you want to start out slowly.  For instance, you can begin with a 5-10 minute walk in your neighborhood and increase duration to 15-20 minutes as you are able.  When you begin an exercise program, be sure to use sturdy and comfortable shoes as well as loose fitting clothing that will enable you to move easily.  When exercising, it is important to drink water before, during and after as you are able, since good hydration is critical for all muscles, joints and cartilage. If you are starting to exercise outside, be sure to notice any uneven or slick surfaces that may cause you to fall.
