You know how Mom always says to "stand up straight ?" Well, performing senior balance exercises  every day can help with that. Please see http://www.exerciseforbalance.com/buy-now Stability exercises are important to help us improve and maintain a good upright posture.  As we age, often times we become more forward bent in our posture. Typically, we tend to lean more forwards because of weakness or pain in the spine. Unfortunately, when we adopt a forward bent posture a few negative events begin to take place. For instance, with a forward alignment of the spine, the body's weight is no longer supported through the center of the joints of the spine, knees, hips and feet where cartilage is most dense and most capable of handling compressive forces. Instead, the body weight is shifted anteriorly on those joints on to thinner cartilage, which breaks down quicker and starts the snowball effect of osteoarthritis. Additionally, with a forward bent posture, the body weight is anterior and at the limit of a person's base of support. In this anterior position, it is very easy to lose one's balance and fall. Sometimes, we can begin to develop a forward bent posture simply  from having our head jut forward during activities like reading, driving, cooking, or walking. Because a forward position is so prevalent among us, it is essential to practice appropriate senior balance exercises to both improve posture and limit the possibility of a fall.

Use Senior Balance Exercises For Better Posture

A daily routine of senior  balance exercises improve stability and enhance posture. One main component of improving steadiness is to focus our center balance point using the sensory feedback from our feet. Specifically, stability strategies and equilibrium  exercises help us focus our center balance point over the middle of our feet.  By using a focal point in the middle of our feet, we will automatically line up our body weight in a proper postural alignment through the center of our body. Consequently,  senior  balance exercises can assist in correcting our posture from the forward leaning position to a more upright and stable stature. you can learn these specific stability strategies and senior balance exercises in the Exercise For Balance DVD, which was developed by an experienced Physical Therapist.
