If you can not drive, the best option is to sit in the front seat and look at the road ahead to try to minimize motion sickness.  Additionally, while riding in a car, be sure not to read a book or look at electronic devices, as that will increase your symptoms. If you are travelling on a boat, face the same direction you are heading and keep your eyes on the horizon to try to diminish symptoms of sea sickness. When travelling in a plane, try to sit in a window seat over the wing to give you a visual point to focus on. Furthermore, when riding in a train, face the direction you are moving and focus on a visual point inside the train to help you stabilize and reduce symptoms. Lastly, for all modes of transportation, you can use the body's sense of touch to help ground you, feel more balanced and reduce motion sickness.

For instance, when riding in a car, if you concentrate on the sense of touch between your back and legs in the seat and realize that you are in a stable, secure position, your brain will be able to dampen the feelings of motion sickness. Additionally, by practicing balance exercises and balance techniques before you travel on a boat, plane  or take a car ride, you will be able to strengthen your balance system, thereby overcoming to some extent the sense of motion sickness when you travel.
