Staying active in later years has many benefits and can continue for a long time if you add  senior balance exercises  to your daily routines to build steadiness and avoid falling. Please see http://www.exerciseforbalance.com/buy-now Medical researchers have shown that the benefits of an active social life for senior citizens is one of the components that continues to be proven to give an exceptional quality of life to those in the aging population. New research confirms that the final years of life, even when challenged by health problems, can be better for both men and women if they stay active socially. Living a socially active life and prioritizing social goals are associated with higher late-life satisfaction and less severe declines toward the end of life,” said Denis Gerstorf, PhD, of Humboldt University, lead author of the research published by the American Psychological Association. In a recent study, the researchers compared well-being, as measured by answers on a scale of 0 to ten to the question, “How satisfied are you with your life concurrently, all things considered?” Other measures included participation in social activities, social goals (how important they found participating in social or political activities) and family goals (how much they valued their marriage or relationships with their children) during the last few years in life. The research team, including scholars from Arizona State University, Cornell University, Pennsylvania State University and the University of British Columbia, found that being socially active and having social goals were associated with higher well-being late in life. In addition, medical researchers have also found that being engaged socially involves staying mobile. Long term mobility includes a certain level of being able to move around with good strength, flexibility and steadiness. As a result, medical researchers and healthcare professionals agree that older individuals should practice senior balance exercises as part of their daily routine to establish good stability and avoid injury producing falls.

Keep Active With Senior Balance Exercises

Adding senior balance exercises to your daily schedule can develop needed stability for all of life's movements. As an example, you can try an equilibrium routine where you stand with one foot directly in front of the other foot. You can practice this tandem stance position while brushing your teeth and you can use tandem standing to increase the balance reactions at your ankles. You can learn how to perform tandem stance exercises as well as other senior balance exercises by joining in with a qualified Physical Therapist on the Exercise For Balance DVD.
